
United Nations Delegation Visits Yonge Nawe Manyeveni Donga Rehabilitation Project
4 March 2025The Eswatini Environment Fund (EEF) held its Inception Workshop on February 10-11, 2025, at Esibayeni Lodge to prepare project leaders for the 2024/25 funding cycle. The workshop focused on enhancing project management skills, environmental sustainability, and understanding the fund’s operational requirements. EEF Project Officer Miss Sisekelo Shongwe outlined the grant administration process, emphasizing the importance of a clear understanding of all stages, from project scope finalization to reporting.
Key objectives included strengthening leadership abilities in planning, monitoring, and people management, while clarifying EEF’s grant procedures. Mr. Mfundo Langwenya highlighted the long-term benefits of projects for both the environment and the community, encouraging inclusive participation, particularly from diverse community members. Challenges such as project seasonality and labor intensity were discussed, alongside the importance of aligning projects with EEF’s focus on sustainable land management, climate change adaptation, and biodiversity conservation.
Sustainability was a central theme, with an emphasis on creating lasting environmental, financial, and social impacts. 
Miss Zandisile Howe provided insights into Eswatini’s environmental laws, stressing compliance and community advocacy. Leadership and inclusive participation were also key topics, with Mr. Norman Mavuso and Mr. Thembumenzi Ntshalintshali discussing leadership qualities, gender equity, and the inclusion of youth and persons with disabilities in projects.
The workshop concluded with EEF reaffirming its commitment to supporting transformative projects that contribute to a more sustainable future for Eswatini’s environment and communities.
